Advisory Board



Doug Levin, Advisor

Doug Levin is a serial CEO and entrepreneur. He serves as an advisor to a wide range of early and late stage companies including Cadio, Hubspot, Triangulate, Visible Measures and UcanTV (China).

Most recently Levin was awarded a Clean Energy Fellowship by the New England Clean Energy Council and helps run the Clean Energy Fusion Center, an incubator located in Waltham, MA.

Levin is the founder of Black Duck Software in 2002 and previously served as its first CEO. Today he remains active with the company and serves on its Board of Directors.

Before Black Duck, Levin served as the CEO of MessageMachines and X-Collaboration Software Corporation, two VC-backed companies based in Boston, and as an interim executive with CMGI Direct, IBM/Lotus Development Corporation, Oracle Software Corporation and several other software companies. At the start of his management career he held various senior positions with Microsoft Corporation over a nine year period.

Levin has been awarded two patents and two other patents pending in the area of software algorithm identification.



Bridget O'Brien, Advisor

With over 23 years' experience in planning and implementing corporate marketing and communications programs, Bridget is Vice President of Marketing for VistaPrint and the former Senior Vice President of Marketing at Fidelity Ventures and Fidelity Equity Partners. There she was responsible for the firm’s strategic and tactical marketing initiatives as well as serving the firm’s portfolio companies as a consultant where needed.

Prior to Fidelity, Bridget was Managing Director for investment bank Adams Harkness (now Canaccord Adams) where she established and led the marketing function. During her tenure, she helped the firm market its competitive advantages and increase its brand. Her responsibilities eventually increased to include oversight of Information Technology, Human Resources, Research Services, Real Estate and Corporate Services. Additionally Bridget served on their Board of Directors.

Before Adams Harkness, Bridget was Director of Corporate Communications for Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) where one of her noteworthy accomplishments included creation of an integrated lead generation process that delivered measurable results in a sales-centric environment. Bridget held worldwide marketing communications management positions at Waters Corporation, a division of Millipore Corporation, where she helped launch two of the company’s best-known brands.

Bridget is a Mentor with the Mazie Foundation, which works with youth who want to focus on education and career, but for reasons beyond their control, face steep odds against success and was recently elected to their Board of Directors. She is also a member of the NVCA’s Strategic Communications Forum.

Bridget has a BS in Advertising from the University of Texas, Austin.



Perry Allison, Advisor

Perry has built a career helping brands and companies leverage new and emerging technologies in the media landscape.  She has been at the forefront of several significant new trends in marketing — the advent of the internet and online advertising, the early days of mobile advertising and marketing and also the early days of word of mouth marketing and social media.  She was an executive at Eons.com and led the company’s sales and partner marketing efforts.  At Alloy Media + Marketing, she launched the company’s efforts in word of mouth marketing for youth marketers.  She was the first VP, Sales of AltaVista and played a key role in the very early days of the online advertising industry.  She was a founding executive at SkyGo, a mobile marketing company.  Perry helped lead the way in evangelizing the new medium of mobile marketing. She also served as the Global Chairperson for the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA).  She has held an accomplished record of marketing and sales positions with leading Internet sites and print publications including Alloy, Bolt, NewsPage, Walking Magazine, Sports Illustrated, INC Magazine and SAIL Magazine. She also spent several years working at advertising agencies in Boston and San Francisco.

She is currently pursuing her life-long passion for theater as Managing Director for Northern Stage, a professional theater company in Vermont. In her spare time, she sings in a Boston-based a cappella group, Custom Blend. She has served on the board of Young Audiences of Massachusetts and also on the board of the Aloha Foundation.

Perry received a BA in English and Theatre from Skidmore College.



Paul Smith, Advisor

As the Chief Financial Officer of 170 Systems (now Kofax), Paul leads the development of their operations infrastructure to support continued growth. He oversees accounting, financial reporting, contracting, licensing, facilities, and investor relations. Earlier, he was CFO of DataSage, Inc., a developer of real-time personalization and marketing analysis software, where he helped to drive the merger with Vignette Corporation.

In addition to DataSage, Paul was CFO of Terascape Software, a maker of client-server tools acquired by EMC; CFO of Granitar, Inc., a professional services firm focused on content management integration; and he started his career in the Boston office of Ernst and Young.

Paul holds a Bachelors of Science degree from Boston University and an MS in Accounting and an MBA from Northeastern University. He is a CPA and a member of the Massachusetts Society and American Institute of Public Certified Accountants.

 


Frank Panaccio, Advisor

Frank is a Partner at KBT Partners, a strategic advisory firm focused on healthcare IT, services and emerging technology companies in healthcare.  Frank works closely with startups to assist them with executing on their go-to-market strategy.

Prior to joining KBT Partners, Frank was a Vice President at Fidelity Ventures where he focused on investments in healthcare IT and emerging technologies.  Frank was responsible for launching Fidelity Ventures' initiatives in the healthcare IT market and served as Board Observer at RedBrick Health.  Frank also served as a Board Observer at Authoria, EnterpriseDB, MegaPath Networks, Neverfail Group, Ping Identity, and Vibes Media.

Prior to joining Fidelity Ventures, Frank was an Associate of mergers and acquisitions for Jefferies Broadview where he was responsible for developing M&A strategies for clients and managing the execution of transactions.  Prior to Jefferies Broadview, he served as Associate Director of Corporate Finance at Globix Corporation, a global web hosting provider, where he was responsible for corporate finance and corporate development activities.  Frank also held positions in the technology M&A group at Robertson, Stephens & Company and in the Global Special Investments group at ING Barings.

Frank is also the President and Founder of Deep Insight Analytics, a strategic advisory firm focused on emerging technology companies.  Frank serves as an advisor to start-ups, including OpenPursuit, SOCIALtality and Shortbord.

Frank earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and an AB degree in Economics from Harvard College.
